It's JULY 1, and you all know what that means!! It is my (Jessica's) BIRTHDAY MONTH! Last night while you were sleeping, if you were born in July and are on our Birthday List, you received a little birthday gift in the mail, isn't that fun?

The most popular name this month was Jennifer, with a whopping 12!!!
As you all know, BAROQUE, our best selling cover of all time was on sale last month! I photographed a wedding on Saturday that went perfectly with that theme--check out these great photos that my friend Alicia snagged of me shooting--aren't they fun? And wasn't the wedding nice to cooperate with me??

This months' photo is one that Michael Norwood shot of me shooting on the beach wearing Baroque. Michael and I often take turns second shooting for each other on days that we don't have our own weddings, which is an added little bonus for some of our clients! I thought it would be fun to share what I was shooting while Michael snagged that shot of me here today!
Let me just say that I had an easy job that day--this couple was gorgeous, easy to work with, and the light was perfect. Perfect light to me is that golden light about half an hour before the time of sunset on the beach, when the whole world looks warm and glowy.
It absolutely KILLS me when I see a photographer shooting on the beach in this light and using a flash or reflector. The point of lighting devices is to help create the very light that is ALREADY EXISTING NATURALLY at that time, and I feel that my responsibility is to capture it, not interfere with it. Here's a few shots from that session:
No reflector here, Just a little "S" curve in photoshop to bring up their faces which were a little dark since I exposed more for the light in the background
This one was processed with the Boutwells Totally Rad Action "Pool Party" at about 45%
My absolute, hands down favorite, also processed with theTotally Rad Action "Pool Party" at about 25%
The number one complaint we get regarding our monthly SALE blasts is from our INTERNATIONAL customers. They are sad that we don't ship from our website internationally so they are unable to participate in the sales.
THIS MONTH IS DIFFERENT!!

My good friend Beth, while on business in South America, sent us this awesome photo! There's two special things about it: 1. Beth is a new photographer who is using her bag for the first time. She is also one of my bridesmaids :) 2. She is standing in Ecuador on BOTH sides of the equator at the same time! Now, how many people can say that. Check her out:

I love Fridays. It's weird that I love Fridays because generally Saturdays are workdays for me, and the reason that most people love Fridays is exactly the opposite! I can't help it though, when a Friday rolls around, images of lazy Saturday mornings in bed, bacon cooking, and long afternoons sipping sweet tea and grilling with friends take over my brain, rendering it impossible to do anything else.
Can you believe it is JUNE already? And halfway through it at that?
I am so so excited to tell you about the BRAND NEW NEWSLETTER shootsac is about to launch! I will be doing a monthly photographer feature, sharing photography tips, and best of all LAUNCHING A NEW COVER EVERY MONTH in the newsletter! Three good things happening today (and one for good luck)!

2. Today is FREAKY FRIDAY!! It's a particularly good one for me personally, which I'll explain in a future post, but for now, here is our good friend Chrystal Beson who thinks her shootsac covers go very well with her bathroom decor (she's right)!
3. It's JUNE!! Happy Birthday to all you JUNE BABIES! We sent you a little something to celebrate and I'll be posting all of your names on Monday. We love you June babies!

Yes, readers, I realize that it's Saturday! That doesn't mean that Freaky Friday is cancelled this week, just that it decided to take a long weekend and head out to Vegas for the WSOP! Still, no excuse for not showing some images of a shootsac in a compromising position though, right??

Month after month, we've heard the cry of the East-coasters, "PLEASE stop blasting in the middle of the night! My husband/kids/pets hate being woken up by the sound of my frantic typing to grab the shootsac cover of the dreams"! Well, East coast, here you go--a nice, early evening blast!
However, as always, we have LIMITED availability of this month's items, so although the sale goes until June 5th, we could be out of inventory by then. So now is a good time to splurge!
This month, we grow some shootsac covers:
Supplies needed for this shoot:
1. a large planter in a bright color
2. a potted flowering tree
3. a bunch of sunflowers
4. an antique watering can
5. two paint mixing sticks
6. two shootsac covers
This shoot was so much fun and relatively easy to pull off! I shot it in the early afternoon in a garden at my neighbors' house. I wanted to shoot this earlier in the day than usual, so that I'd have a really bright, springy feeling to the photo! I shot it in RAW to pull back the detail in the white flowers, and added a bump in contrast to bring out the color.
Poof! A May Blast!

Well, I'll admit, since I've been traveling for most of May, this months' sale is a little late, but it is coming to you TONIGHT and will be extended into the first couple of days of June, so never fear!
