As a photographer, I realized the other day how seldom I'm actually photographed myself! Oh, there are pictures of me for deliberate reasons--new website, wedding, things like that, but in day to day life, I barely exist in photos.
A few weeks ago, I shot a party for online wedding magazine Utterly Engaged and awesome photographer KrisD snagged a few shots of me--I was so excited! Well, as excited as I can be with my hair all curly like that (insert childhood nightmare here).
I am sporting a cover no longer in production, which I LOVE! One of the most fun things about Shootsac is our limited runs of covers. We often do not reorder covers when we run out, so there are lots of opportunities to snag one and make it YOURS! It just means you need to be quick on the trigger when covers are released. If you GET ON OUR MAILING LIST you'll always be first to know when a new cover comes out.

JASMINE STAR & CREATIVE LIVE!
fri. august 27, 2010
First, a note: IT IS FREE SHIPPING FRIDAY!! If you follow our TWITTER you already know, but I'm reminding you one more time here to check out our twitter for the free shipping code!
Now onto the real post:
Since Shootsac has been in existence, one of our biggest supporters is the lovely Jasmine Star. As we've grown, she has also grown, turning into one of the industry's biggest STARS! Today, we want to wish her luck shooting a LIVE WEDDIng on Creative Live.
Shooting weddings is a LOT of pressure, and I think we can all agree that we feel that pressure on any normal wedding day. Add to that shooting live with thousands of people watching, and the pressure must be through the roof.
Let's all give Jasmine our good thoughts, prayers, and kind words today, and of course, watch along with her at Creative Live!

WE LOVE PHOTOGRAPHERS!
thu. july 29, 2010
One of the things we love to do here at Shootsac® is to SUPPORT photographers! From time to time, we'll give away a bag for a get together, a code for workshop attendees, and other little things to help you share Shootsac with the people who love YOU!
One of our friends is Edmund Prieto who organized a fab get together for a group of photographers that included games, dinner, and of course, a to-die-for dry lake bed desert shootout! The person who won the Shootsac was Daniel Cruz who was so excited to win! Check him out:
Edmund posted this group shot of his photographers.
I spy with my little eye SIX Shootsacs!

WE LOVE THIS!
mon. july 19, 2010
One thing that everyone here at Team Shootsac loves is when we get a Google notification that someone has posted something about us. Good or bad, we want to read and hear your thoughts, because that's how we can grow as a product, a brand, and a company! Our first goal has always been (and will always be), to create products to make you a BETTER photographer!
I'll admit though, we sure do love the good things we read--we email them to each other and look at them often for encouragement. One of the items that really made a splash here is Julie Azcona's review, which I've posted below with kind permission:
From Julie:
On Thursday I had a fun photo shoot with a lovely girl who will be celebrating her 16th birthday in a few days. It was the perfect opportunity for me to finally test my beautiful Shootsac.
I packed my bag with all my stuff for a one hour session. Placed the lenses in each pocket… and I just kept thinking, and a little pocket for you, and a little pocket for you and oh, a little pocket for you. The bag is awesome! I know is not supposed to be a camera bag… but for me it is. I can fit my 7D without the lens in one of the pockets, preferably the middle one in the front. My wallet, keys, lipstick, bottle of water and cell in the back. Perfection!
And the shoulder pad? Oh, it is comfy! Not sure if without it the bag's strap would be as comfortable. The bag itself kinda falls in love with you though. It hugs you comfortably… it gives you space to move. It feels light and flexible. It is the perfect relationship!
The amount of time it took me to change lenses compare to before…. bah! Not comparable… it is 1, 2, DONE! I highly recommend it!

JACK BAUER WOULD LOVE THIS
tue. july 13, 2010
Shooting weddings is no joke, but when I saw this photo from Natasha Brown on Facebook, I knew there had to be more to the story! I was right, but I'll let Natasha explain this one in her own words :)
NATASHA'S STORY
If you follow me (Natasha) on Twitter, you'll have read the tweet about me feeling a bit like Jack Bauer. Except that I wasn't prepping guns, just cameras and lenses and batteries and memory cards. Not quite as lethal, but still cool nonetheless.
If you follow Aaron on Twitter, you'll have read the tweet about our arsenal for our back-to-back weddings. And he decided to post this lovely picture:
LET ME EXPLAIN.
We do NOT carry guns or weapons to any weddings we shoot. Though since we're in Texas, it probably wouldn't be that much of a surprise to anyone. The only reason why Aaron had his gun was because we were traveling 5 hours away, and he always brings it with him on road trips. You know, in case we get lost or stranded somewhere. It stayed in our hotel room the entire time we were at the wedding, and I guess he thought it would be cool to bust it out for this picture. Oh boys. I guess getting him the camo Shootsac cover egged him on. My bad.
I DID learn, however, that he did bring his pocketknife to the wedding. Aaron would sleep with this knife if I let him. That's how much he loves it. Um, not unless we're sleeping in the jungle, babe. So he keeps it in his pocket during the day, and every night - EVERY FREAKING NIGHT - he takes it out and proclaims his love for his pocketknife. That's how much he loves it. And apparently, it came in handy during the wedding. I guess the groom's brand new socks were sewn together, and his pocketknife came to the rescue.
Just wanted to explain. Now, if only someone could explain the series finale of LOST to me.

SOMETHING I LOVE TO SEE...
tue. may 11, 2010
There is something I love to see on blogs an the internet lately, and that thing is INSPIRATION. I love to see behind the scenes shots, or shots of a photographer actually capturing a photo juxtaposed to the photo he/she took.
Recently, Yves Huy Truong of Frenetic Joy Photography sent in something that went straight to the top of my radar!
Then, to make his post even better, he sent these photos of the Save the Date concept he was shooting:
Yves, I'm inspired by you!
Does anyone else out there have something inspiring, a before an after, or a concept to reality? We want to see it and feature you here! Just email flamingo@shootsac.com!

SHOOTSAC IN ALASKA!
fri. april 9, 2010
One of my absolute FAVORITE things is to travel. I love to see different parts of the world, and see how other people live! Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to travel nearly as much as our SHOOTSAC™ Lens Bag has.
Our friend Lindsay Weidenhammer recently took a trip all the way to ALASKA! Here's what Lindsay has to say:
My fiance Mike and I were both stationed in Ohio last year for the AIr Force. When we found he was going to be transferred to an Air Force base in North Pole, Alaska, I knew that I would have to stay in Ohio for a couple more years.
Now, even though we're separated by 4000 miles and 4 time zones, it gave me an awesome reason to visit him on my spring break last week.
North Pole, Alaska is the home of the "official" Santa Claus, and it's a town that claims to celebrate Christmas all year long. In fact, they have candy cane colored light posts everywhere! Additionally, all letters written to "Santa Claus" end up in North Pole, Alaska.
Since Alaska has beautiful scenery (and also because I feel naked without my camera), I wanted to bring some gear along for the trip. But, I didn't want to lug my heavy duty wedding gear bags around in the airport, since that would be equipment overkill. So, I stuck one camera body, a 50 mm lens and 85 mm lens in my SHOOTSAC, and boarded the plane.
While on the trip, I not only got to see the amazing landscape (photo 2), Mike and I visited the Ice Sculpting championships (photo 1), which can be found here: icealaska.com.
Lindsay, thanks for taking us on your trip with you!!

A LITTLE BLING NEVER HURT ANYBODY...
wed. april 7, 2010
I'm not ashamed to admit it--I love pretty much anything sparkly!
Here is a list of things that I love that fall into the sparkly/glittery/shiny category:
-Headbands
-Vegas
-Sparkle donuts from Starbucks
-Jewelry (especially vintage brooches and hatpins)
-Shoes
-Nail Polish with sparkles in it
-Lancome Boule lip gloss
-Shootsac™ Lens Bag covers
Wait a second, did I just say "Shootsac™ Lens Bag covers"? You might be saying to yourself--but they don't have any sparkly covers--sadly, that is true. We are working on this. But there is someone that just couldn't wait for us to get it together, and her name is Diana Jung.
When I met her, she told me that she was going to do this, and I stared at her with my jaw hanging low thinking "WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THIS?!" Diana, I love you! Check out her work:

SHOOTSAC AT THE LYON SHOP--RAWR!
wed. march 24, 2010
One of my FAVORITE things about working with SHOOTSAC™ is the fun photos we show up in from so many different photographers! Amelia Lyon has been one of those photographers who has gotten so AMAZING in the past few years--she's just blown up! She is very original, super talented, and such a blast to be around--its no surprise that her clients love her and photographers want to learn from her.
Lucky for us, she runs LYON SHOPS several times a year and they always fill up in a matter of hours. Here is a shot we snagged from her blog, a nice moment from her most recent one where she demonstrates her technique:
Amelia, we LOVE you!
