So over here at Shootsac we get these Google Alerts that let us know whenever anyone's talking about us on their blogs, that way we can see who loves their shootsacs and feature those people on this blog in addition to the people who email in photos. Today, an alert came through from Laurel Housden's Blog, and I love how she incorporated our mascot, the shootsac flamingo, into her photos!

"I just love my Shootsac by Jessica Claire. It is a fantastic camera bag that allows me to bring just the essentials that I need on various types of photography outings. You don’t actually keep your camera in the bag…just the extras. I usually carry my 50 1.8 and my 28-300mm lenses along with my strobe and extra batteries. I love that I don’t have to carry my Lowpro on my back moving around to different locales anymore when I only need a few items. The Shootsac has really given me back a lot of freedom with my movements along with looking pretty cool and stylish."
Check out her shots:
Thanks Laurel!

Many of you who I've met over the past year or so have asked me how I have time to both run Shootsac and my photography business, along with all the traveling and other stuff I do. Anyone who has asked has gotten pretty much the same answer--I don't do much of the work.
Who then, you may ask, does all the work?
Excellent question, dear readers! Shootsac is a 50/50 split company between myself and Keats Elliott. Besides being an awesome photographer herself, this girl has a head for business and a knack for making reality out of random ideas. She was recently featured on the Shutterbug Magazine Talk Show, which is WELL worth a listen if you've got a minute or ten! I figured I'd take the opportunity to share a few things about the other (better) half of shootsac with you all:
Full name: Keats Elliott
Personal style: I think I'm somewhere between Anthrophologie and Ann Taylor loft -- I'd like to be a little more eclectic and free spirited, but I tend to be a tad conservative with a spaz of color...
Favorite quote: "A thing of Joy is a beauty forever" John Keats
Have you ever been on a blind date: Yes! with a handsome Russian who picked me up in a limo on a school night, kept me out dancing until the sun came up and showed me the gun in his pocket over dessert. It was like a crazy action movie and I was exhausted by the time the credits rolled. Thanks a lot Elisabeth -- great story to tell my grandkids one day :)
Favorite shootsac cover: I'm currently really hot on Cowboy (which we debuted at WPPI) because I want a reason to buy some kick-ass cowboy boots like Victor Sizemore's!
What is your best business tip or advice: Don't make a project so big in your head that you can't start. I once heard that if you wanted to eat an elephant you would still start by taking one bite at a time.
Anything else you care to share with Shootsac blog readers worldwide?: A good friend of mine is always reminding me to "just do what you do" which is such simple advice that it literally took me years to realize how right on it was. I love taking ideas and bringing them to life -- that is what I do. This first year with Shootsac has been a dream.
So there you have it! Keats Elliott is a real person and she rocks! So if you are a shootsac fan, leave a comment here and thank her for all her hard work because she's the real brains behind the company!

Now that I've been home from Vegas for a day, I can finally relax and process the whole thing! I had the absolute BEST time this year! Our booth was packed, and it was fun to meet so many shootsac people in person. I stole this shot off of Melissa Koehler's blog:
If you have photos that you and I took together, photos of the booth, or photos of you with your shootsac, I want to share them here! Please email them (850px wide) to flamingo@shootsac.com so you too can be on this blog!

Guys, I love you. I really really do. But every time a guy asks me about when I'm going to come out with a guy cover, I want to pull my hair out! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a fabric cover that will look great on a guy? I do think I finally nailed it this time...check out one of the new covers we'll have in vegas next week, it's called COWBOY and is modeled here by the fabulous Victor Sizemore who is also sporting some great boots!
Thanks Vic!

I can't wait to meet lots of you next week at WPPI! I will be there at the shootsac booth at 11am sharp on Monday, so come say hello to me! Here's a little map of where we are that you can print out and take with you so you'll be able to find us:
There's going to be a super sale for those of you who come to the show, and you'll get to see last month's debut covers live and in person!

I got an email a week or two ago from Pat Shorten that I just loved! Since it's almost WPPI again where the Shootsac Flamingo will be making quite a few appearances at all the hottest parties, I thought I'd post this pic from Pat, along with her note.
Pat said:
"I was in ACMoore (a craft store) today, just doing a little retail therapy and a stumbled across the cutest little flamingo and it made me think of you and your site. Needless to say I picked it up, not for you but to donate to a kid in Costa Rica with thoughts of your generosity...to explain, my husband is a college professor and we are taking students to CR for a class over spring break. We'll be doing a standard, check out all the interesting places sort of tour with a few add-ons of our own like visiting UNA (the national university) and touring their environmental program (it is similar to the program my husband teaches in). We have a few education majors traveling with us so we've arranged to stop at a Tican Public School, get a tour and meet the kids. I'm going to give one the kids your flamingo and try to get a good photo of him or her with it just for fun for you because you are one of the good guys! My Spanish is crude at best so I will communicate with smiles and gestures, we shall see how it all turns out.
I've attached a photo of the flamingo prepared to depart. He's sitting next to our map and on top of the crayons I'm bringing the kids. I'm going to bring the kids crayola crayons as they are made right near here and that makes 'em special to me."
Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness Pat!!
